Abstract:
The objective of the present technology is to improve the usage efficiency of a memory. An encoded word generation unit generates an encoded word from data to be encoded in error detection/correction encoding. A write processing unit writes to a memory cell, as write data, either the encoded word or data obtained by inverting the encoded word. A read data error correction unit reads the write data from the memory cell as read data, and corrects errors in the read data. An inverted data error correction unit corrects errors in inverted data obtained by inverting the read data. If the number of errors in either the read data or the inverted data does not exceed the correction capability in the error correction encoding, the corrected data output unit selects the error-corrected read data or inverted data and outputs that data as corrected data.
