A merchandise dispensing device (20) comprises: a first discharge mechanism (20a) which, when in a standby state, prevents merchandise stored in a first merchandise storage passage (13a) from moving downward and which, when driven, discharges downward the lowermost piece of the merchandise which is stored in the first merchandise storage passage (13a); and a second discharge mechanism (20b) which, in a standby state, prevents merchandise stored in a second merchandise storage passage (13b) from moving downward, and which, when driven, discharges downward the lowermost piece of the merchandise which is stored in the second merchandise storage passage (13b), the first discharge mechanism (20a) and the second discharge mechanism (20b) being joined back-to-back. The first discharge mechanism (20a) is provided with: a motor (43) which serves as the drive source of both the first discharge mechanism (20a) and the second discharge mechanism (20b); and a drive force application means which, when a discharge command is applied thereto, alternatively selects the first discharge mechanism (20a) or the second discharge mechanism (20b) according to the discharge command and applies the drive force of the motor (43) to the selected discharge mechanism.
