Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing a metal composite hydroxide, which has good yield of tungsten. This method for producing a metal composite hydroxide comprises: a first crystallization step wherein a first aqueous starting material solution containing a metal element and an ammonium ion source are supplied into a reaction vessel, and crystallization is carried out, while adjusting the pH of the aqueous reaction solution in the reaction vessel; and a second crystallization step wherein ammonium ion source and a second aqueous starting material solution that contains more tungsten than the first aqueous starting material solution are supplied, and crystallization is carried out, while adjusting the pH of the aqueous reaction solution, thereby forming a tungsten concentrate layer. During grain growth in this method for producing a metal composite hydroxide, switching of the reaction atmosphere from one of a non-oxidizing atmosphere having an oxygen concentration of 5% by volume or less and an oxidizing atmosphere having a higher oxygen concentration than the non-oxidizing atmosphere to the other is performed twice or more times; and the duration of time when the second aqueous starting material solution is supplied into the reaction vessel in the non-oxidizing atmosphere is 50% or more of the entire duration of time when the second aqueous starting material solution is supplied into the reaction vessel.
