Abstract:
A frame of spectacles having thin metallic wire rims, which is light in weight, has an open feeling and has excellent fitting feeling and decorative property. An upper rim (25) and a lower rim (26) are integrally formed from one metallic wire material, which has a wide portion (21) and a narrow wire portion (22). Joint portions between end pieces (31, 32) of the rim (2) and between a bridge (33) and a pad leg (36) are wide portions, and at least the lower rim between the wide portion (21a) on the edge side and the wide portion (21b) on the bridge side is the wire portion (22). The wide portion (21) changes to the wire portion (22) with a small distance. A protuberance (27) is formed on the extension of the wire portion (22) on the inner periphery of the wide portion (21), and the wire portion (22) and the protuberance (27) fit into a circumferential groove (11) around the outer periphery of a lens (1) and keep the lens (1). The width of the wide portion (21) is preferably smaller than the thickness of the lens (1), and the front edge of the wide portion (21) is so disposed as not to protrude from the front surface of the lens (1).
