Abstract:
Provided is a methacrylic copolymer (C) which comprises 25-35 mass% of a methyl methacrylate unit (A), and 75-65 mass% of an alkyl methacrylate unit (B) having a C10-36 alkyl group, said methacrylic copolymer (C) being characterized by:
(a) having a weight-average molecular weight of 10,000-500,000;
(b) showing a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 1.01-1.60;
(c) having a triad syndiotacticity (rr) of 65% or higher; and
(d) being soluble at a ratio of 5.0 mass% or higher at 0°C in at least one member selected from the group consisting of lubricant base oils (D) falling within the API categories of III, III+ and IV.
