Abstract:
[Problem] There is demand for devices that synthesize methane from hydrogen and carbon dioxide gas but can remove reaction heat and further reduce the progress and temperature of the reaction to improve percent conversion to methane. [Solution] The present invention uses a powder of the chemical heat storage agents magnesium hydroxide and magnesium carbonate as part of a fluid medium of a multistage fluidized bed to absorb and store the heat generated during a methanization reaction in the temperature range in which the methanization reaction proceeds and can use the carbon dioxide gas generated from the magnesium carbonate as a raw material gas for the methanization reaction. The stored heat is recovered when the magnesium oxide generated by the heat absorption is discharged and undergoes regeneration at external regeneration equipment, and the regenerated powder is reintroduced at the highest stage of the multistage fluidized bed at a lower temperature than the internal temperature of the device, making it possible to reduce the progress and temperature of the reaction as the reactant gases are rising through the device and to improve percent conversion to the methane that is generated.
