Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for activating an electronic payment means and an activation server. More specifically, when a user makes an authentication request for use of a non-activated electronic payment means by using 1st intrinsic ID information of the non-activated electronic payment means and personal information of himself or herself as a user terminal subscriber, authentication on the 1st intrinsic ID information is then performed to determine whether to give a permission to use the non-activated electronic payment means, and a subscriber type is decided based on the subscriber's personal information. After that, a 1st parameter value corresponding to the subscriber type having been decided and a permission for use are provided to a user terminal where the 1st parameter value is set and the electronic payment means is activated so as to allow future payments via the electronic payment means to be done on the basis of the 1st parameter value. As such, the present invention keeps an electronic payment means, which is built in a mobile terminal, in non-activated mode if the electronic payment means is not being used by a user and remotely activates the electronic payment means when needed. In this way, availability of the electronic payment means can be changed conveniently and unauthorized payments by the activated electronic payment means of the mobile terminal while a user is making an electronic payment via another medium can be avoided.
