Abstract:
A method for adjusting the degree of substitution with an acetyl group of cellulose acetate, characterized in that the intermolecular or intramolecular adjustment of the degree of substitution with an acetyl group is carried out through the aging of the cellulose acetate in the presence of a catalyst, an acetyl donator and water or an alcohol under conditions wherein the amount of water and the alcohol is in the range of 0.1 to 10 mol % of the acetyl donator.
