Provided are a method and apparatus for acquiring a state of a label switched path (LSP). The method comprises: a stateful path computation element (PCE) acquiring a path computation request initiated by a first path computation client (PCC) node in a plurality of PCCs, the first PCC node not supporting protocol extension of the stateful PCE; according to the path computation request, selecting a second PCC node supporting the protocol extension of the stateful PCE among all downstream PCC nodes in a computed path; and issuing an agent message to the second PCC node, and obtaining state information of the LSP, reported by the second PCC node representing the first PCC node according to the agent message. The solution of the present invention enables that the state of the LSP can still be reported when a stateful capability negotiation between the first PCC node and the PCE fails, and therefore an LSP state database in the stateful PCE and an actual network can remain consistent to the greatest extent.
