Abstract:
A method comprising grinding a lower knife-edge-joining portion (28a), a knife (42) apparatus for wood chipping, and a counterknife. A front side of the knife includes a recess and in the wood chipping machine the knife is clamped between an outer clamping (48) member adapted to receive the back side of the knife, and a inner clamping member (50) adapted (52) to receive the front side of the knife, the inner clamping member making contact with the front side of the knife at two spaced locations thereon (55, 57), wherein at least one of the locations (57) is outside the recess and the other is inside the recess (46), wherein the width of the recess (w) normalized by the overall width of the knife (W) yields a result that is preferably no more than about 0.22.
