A method and apparatus for controlling a cleaning robot (100), an electronic device, and a storage medium. The method comprises: receiving, from a cleaning robot (100), an indoor coordinate system corresponding to an indoor scene and outer contour coordinates of each indoor object in the indoor coordinate system (S101); creating, according to the indoor coordinate system and the outer contour coordinates of each object, a virtual reality space corresponding to the indoor scene, and adding a perspective camera and a camera control to the virtual reality space (S102); acquiring a real-scene image of the indoor scene in real time, and recognizing a debris object by using an image recognition method (S103); and synchronizing the virtual reality space and the coordinates of the debris object in the virtual reality space to at least one terminal (300), so that the at least one terminal (300) controls, according to the virtual reality space, the cleaning robot (100) to clean the debris object (S104). The terminal (300) can control, according to the virtual reality space, the cleaning robot (100) to further clean the debris object, thereby improving the cleaning effect and improving user experience.
