Disclosed in the embodiments of the present application are a method and apparatus for controlling the transmission of a video stream, and a device and a medium, which can be applied in various scenarios such as intelligent transportation, assisted driving, cloud technology and artificial intelligence. The method for controlling the transmission of a video stream comprises: receiving a video stream, which is sent by a stream pusher, and detecting network index information of the video stream during the receiving process; on the basis of the network index information, determining a stream pulling code rate which matches the network index information; generating a stream pulling request on the basis of the stream pulling code rate, wherein the stream pulling request is used for instructing the stream pusher to perform stream pushing processing on the basis of the stream pulling code rate; and sending the stream pulling request to the stream pusher. By means of the technical solution of the present application, the transmission of a video stream is adapted to a network change, thereby realizing rational control over the transmission of the video stream.
