Abstract:

A method and an apparatus in which an acidic waste liquid containing copper ions, such as, e.g., an etching waste liquid resulting from the etching of a copper-clad substrate with a cupric chloride etchant or a waste liquid resulting from plating bath replacement with a fresh one in producing an electrolytic copper foil. The method, which is for removing/recovering copper from an copper-containing acidic waste liquid, comprises: pouring a liquid mixture of the copper-containing acidic waste liquid and an oxidizing agent into an alkali solution while regulating the pH of the alkali solution after addition of the liquid mixture so as not to decrease to 7 or lower even temporarily; and isolating the resultant solid matter containing copper oxide as a main component.
