Abstract:
A method and a apparatus for detection of water depletion in a steam iron, and an iron fitted with the apparatus. In the present invention, the following are employed: a normally closed (NC) thermostat (2) of a constant temperature boiler, and a control board (1); a signal wire (3) connected between the boiler thermostat (2) and the control board (1); the state of the thermostat (3) being closed or opened is provided to the control board (1) via the signal line (3); the control board (1) is thus allowed to judge on the basis of an empirical value of an actual electric heating system whether or not a water holder has been depleted of water; thereby preventing damages to a control pump (4) due to running without water. In contrast to conventional costs of using other detection hardwares, the present invention has minimized costs, a simple technique, and conserves space for the iron to have other components designed.
