Abstract:

Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a boss for a vehicle engine fuel rail. The method for manufacturing a boss for a vehicle engine fuel rail by cold forging comprises: a cutting step (S10) for manufacturing a first molded body (S1) having a cylindrical shape by cutting a round steel rod (1); a first forging step (S20) for molding a second molded body (S2) with front and back flat parts (3) and upper and lower convex curved parts (5, 6) formed by pressing the periphery of the cut cylindrical body (S1); a softening heat treatment step (S30) for softening the second molded body (S2) by annealing heat treatment; a second molded body coating step (S40) for coating the softening heat-treated second molded body (S2) with a coating agent; a second forging step (S50) for press forging the second molded body (S2) which has undergone the second molded body coating step (S40) into a third molded body (S3) having a rounding groove part (8) for coupling a fuel rail body part, using a forging die consisting of an upper punch part (100) and a lower die part (200); and a finishing step (S60) for processing a surface by sandblasting the third molded body (S3).
