Abstract:
An apparatus (1) for manufacturing radioisotopes, comprising an inertial electrostatic confinement fusion unit (IECF) provided in a vacuum vessel thereof with a partition which is formed of thin aluminum foil, and which forms in the interior of the vacuum vessel mutually isolated target gas injection region and a reaction gas injection region, the target gas injection region being positioned on the outer side of a positive electrode surrounding a negative electrode. A target gas supplied to the target gas injection region is irradiated with protons produced by a nuclear reaction, and converted into radioisotopes, the target gas supplied to the interior of the vacuum vessel enabling the produced protons to be utilized effectively for the formation of the radioisotopes.
