Abstract:
A Method and apparatus for noise estimation in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system is disclosed. The method includes the following steps: a channel estimation coefficient generation module generates a channel estimation coefficient w k , wherein k is an integer between -Ntap/2 to Ntap/2, and N tap is a positive integer that is greater than 1; a channel estimation module calculates to get a channel estimator according to a received signal on a sub carrier wave of a Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbol and the channel estimation coefficient; a noise estimator calculation module calculates to get a noise estimator according to the received signal on the sub carrier wave of the OFDM symbol and the channel estimator; a correction factor calculation module calculates a correction factor β according to the channel estimation coefficient w k that is generated by the channel estimation coefficient generation module; a correction module corrects the noise estimator that is outputted by the noise estimator calculation module according to the correction factor β. The method and the apparatus can achieve a minor estimation error and lower complexity simultaneously.
