Abstract:
The number of high luminance lines having luminance of a specified value or above among lines included in a decimated image picked up by a telescopic camera directed toward the iris position of an object being authenticated is compared with a set value. If the number of high luminance lines is higher than the set value, illuminating direction of the iris is switched to determine an illuminating direction where the number of high luminance lines is lower than the set value, the iris is illuminated in the determined illuminating direction and the focus position for the iris is searched using a decimated image picked up by the telescopic camera thus obtaining the iris image of the object being authenticated. An iris image where reflection of illumination light is reduced can be acquired quickly.
