Abstract:
A method implemented at a policy controller may comprise determining that a policy has been created or modified or deleted and/or that stored information for instantiating the policy has changed, wherein the policy comprises a name of a first network element and one or more addresses, at least one of the one or more addresses comprises a name of a second network element and a label mapping to one of at least one Internet protocol (IP) address of the second network element, wherein the name of the first network element comprises one or more wildcard characters, the name of the second network element comprises one or more wildcard characters, and the first network element is same as or different from the second network element (302); determining addition, update or deletion of one or more instantiation policies based at least partly on the name of the first network element and the one or more addresses (304); sending a policy addition, update or deletion request to one or more agents associated with one or more impacted first network elements (306); and receiving a policy addition, update or deletion response from the one or more agents (308).
