Abstract:
A method for producing a fine powder of a magnetic rare earth alloy, which comprises placing a mixture containing a rare earth metal and a transition metal as raw materials in a crucible (12), subjecting the mixture to an induction heating, to melt metal elements in the mixture, spraying Ar gas with a predetermined pressure from above the resultant molten alloy, to thereby spray the molten alloy downward from a nozzle opening (13S) of the crucible (12), while at the same time spraying a jet stream of an inert gas to the above sprayed molten alloy, thereby rendering the inert gas to collide with the molten alloy to scatter the molten metal and cool and solidify it rapidly. A method for producing a bonded rare earth magnet or a sintering rare earth magnet which comprises using the above fine powder of a magnetic rare earth alloy which is reduced in an oxidized surface area and has an almost spherical shape and a narrow diameter distribution.
