Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reshaping a container body (generally at 688) (e.g., a metal, drawn and ironed container body) utilizing a floating mechanism (716) for imparting an axial load is disclosed. In one embodiment, a container may have a substantial cylindrical sidewall with an inner surface (692) and outer surface (688), where a shape defining means (608) has a contoured surface positionable with respect to a container sidewall (688). When a floating mechanism (716) imparts an axial load, a fluid seal is maintained allowing sidewall deformation by means of a directed pressurized fluid (705).
