Abstract:
The embodiments of the present invention disclose a method and apparatus for sending a paging message. The method includes: network side sends TA identifier information of every MBSFN synchronization area, and network side receives identifier information of MBSFN synchronization area selected by a terminal; the identifier information is identifier information of MBSFN synchronization area serving the terminal, which is selected by the terminal according to the TA identifier information of the MBSFN synchronization area, and network side selects appropriate area in the MBSFN to send paging messages according to the identifier information of the selected MBSFN synchronization area. After the terminal enters the MBSFN synchronization area, the terminal does not have to initiate location update when moving in the MBSFN synchronization area because MBMS dedicated cells in the area have same TA identifier, thus the complexity of location management is reduced, and one time paging is employed at the same time so as to decrease time delay of paging.
