Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a method and apparatus for transmitting an encryption control overhead in an optical transport network (OTN). The method comprises: mapping a service into an optical service unit (OSU) data stream, wherein an OSU is composed of N basic blocks, and the N basic blocks comprise one OSU overhead and N-1 OSU payloads; inserting an encryption control overhead into an OSU overhead channel of the OSU data stream every M frame(s), wherein M is an integer greater than or equal to 1; mapping the OSU data stream into a payload block (PB) of a payload area of an OTN frame; and encapsulating the data frame into an optical transform unit (OTU) frame, and sending the OTU frame to a sink. The problem in the related art that the use of existing ODUk reserved bytes in OTN frame structures to establish security management information channels may result in that the number of the ODUk reserved bytes is limited, and some reused existing bytes conflict in special scenarios and the method for saving limited ODUk reserved bytes by means of multi-frame transmission is not flexible can be solved, and flexible control to security management information is achieved.
