Abstract:
A water treatment apparatus for decomposing and removing an organic substance from water of interest is provided with: a hydrogen peroxide adding means (a hydrogen peroxide source (101)) for adding hydrogen peroxide to the water of interest; an ultraviolet ray oxidation device (103) for irradiating the water of interest which has hydrogen peroxide added thereto with ultraviolet ray; and a hydrogen peroxide removal device (105) for removing hydrogen peroxide contained in outlet water discharged from the ultraviolet ray oxidation device (103). The hydrogen peroxide removal apparatus (105) is provided with an anode (11), a cathode (12), and a hydrogen peroxide removal chamber (23) that is arranged between the anode (11) and the cathode (12) and has, provided therein, a metal catalyst capable of decomposing hydrogen peroxide, in which a direct current is applied between the anode (11) and the cathode (12).
