Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. Methods and apparatuses for a user equipment (UE) initiated beam activation in a wireless communication system. A method of operating a UE includes receiving configuration information including a list of transmission configuration indication (TCI) states, determining TCI states, from the list of TCI states, to activate, and transmitting, to a base station (BS), information indicating the activated TCI states.
