The present disclosure relates to a screen unlocking method and apparatus for a terminal device and a terminal device. The terminal device comprises a touch display chip. The method is applied to the touch display chip and comprises: if touch information is detected on a screen when a terminal device is in a sleep state, displaying a screen unlocking interface on the screen; acquiring, via the screen unlocking interface, unlocking information for unlocking the screen; and when the unlocking information is consistent with corresponding verification information, unlocking the screen. According to the screen unlocking method and apparatus for a terminal device and the terminal device of the present disclosure, the entire SoC system does not need to be activated during a screen unlocking process, thereby reducing the number of times that a main control application processor is awakened from a sleep state, reducing power consumption of a terminal device, and conserving the electric quantity of a battery. The touch display chip also improves the security of user verification during the unlocking process by facilitating generation of a keyboard at a random position and rich unlocking gestures.
