Abstract:
The apparatus of wireless communication is a transmitter or a receiver. The transmitter encodes source packets into fountain code packets using a fountain code, rate of the encoding is based on an RLC mode of the transmitter, maps each of the fountain code packets by CRC encoding into a corresponding code block, encode the code block to generate RVs using channel code, transmit a first RV, and transmit a second RV in response to receiving a NACK HARQ response from the receiver. The transmitter in an RLC AM continuously encodes the source packets into fountain code packets until receiving an ACK response from the receiver indicating a successful fountain decoding. The transmitter in an RLC UM encodes the source packets into N fountain code packets, wherein N is an integer dynamically determined based on a quality of the physical channel or the QoS of service provided.
