Description:
METHOD FOR ATTACHING CABLE TO SPOOL

Technical Field

The invention relates to a method to be used in cable winding machines for keeping the cable end attached to the spool before winding completely within the spool and for winding the cable on the spool during winding.

State of the Art

In cable winding machines, the cable needs to be fixed/attached to the spool to be wound onto plastic, cardboard, metal or wooden spools. The spool on which the cable is fixed is rotated by the winding head and the attachment and winding of the cable on the spool are performed.

One of the methods used nowadays involves the cable being passed through a hole of suitable size in the spool core before the winding and then fixing the same by pressing on the cable using an apparatus that passes through the spool core. This method particularly requires a long apparatus for higher spools and a long area of movement for the apparatus. The cable end remains on the inner side of the spool core and may hang towards the outside of the spool.

Another method is to pass the cable from the inner side of the spool and take the same out from a hole on the spool cheek and attach it. In this method, the attached cable remains outside of the spool cheek. This surplus cable causes problems in the operations of packaging, labelling, stacking, etc. following the winding.

The cable end attached to the spool with the present methods causes a problem in the stages of transportation, stacking, packaging, etc. by hanging from the middle of the spool core or the spool cheeks after the winding. The labels that are adhered to on the spool cheeks containing information about the manufacturer, product, product standards, etc. cannot be applied on the surface because of the cable end hanging from the cheek. The spools placed on top of each other during stacking and dispatch cannot be arranged properly because of the said surplus cable, and cause loss of balance, tumbling, etc. In the invention with application number TR 2019 05202, a method and apparatus developed to improve the winding of the round and/or flat cables in hank form and/or onto spools manufactured from materials such as plastic, wood, or metal by being passed through an apparatus that is mounted and/or attached on another movable mechanism and that can move forward-backwards and/or right-left and/or downward-upward is explained.

Setting off from the state of the art, the invention is related to a method to be used in cable winding machines, wherein the cable end attached to the spool before winding remains within the spool and winding of the cables on the spool during winding. The drawings of the invention are representative and they should not be considered limiting with regard to the said method and apparatus.

Description of the Invention

The invention is related to the parts of the spool (1), spool cheek hole (1.1), spool cheek (1.2), spool core (1.3), winding head (2.1), bottom flange (2.2), cable holder apparatus (2.3), cable (2.4), a pipe (2.5), cable end (2.6), centre (2.7) to be used in cable winding machines, characterized in that the cable end (2.6) is attached to the spool (1) before the start of the winding.

In the method of the invention, the spool (1) which has a hole of suitable size on the cheek is placed between the winding head (2.1) and the bottom flange (2.2). The centre (2.7) on the winding head (2.1) enters from the spool core (1.3) and centers the spool. Then, the winding head (2.1) descends and compresses the spool (1) to fix it and passes the cable holder apparatus (2.3) from the spool cheek hole (1.1). The end (2.6) of the cable wished to be wound is pushed forward by means of a pipe (2.5) and brought between the holder apparatus (2.3) and the spool core (1.3). Then, the holder apparatus (2.3) is closed and the cable end (2.6) is caught. During the rotational movement of the winding head (2.1), the holder apparatus (2.3) is in a closed state and remains within the spool cheek hole (1.1). When the cable (2.4) winding is finished, the holder apparatus (2.3) is released and pulled up.

The cable end (2.6) attached to the spool (1) before the start of the winding remains within the spool (1) completely, and the cable (2.4) is wound on the same during winding. Thereby, there is no cable end (2.6) on the spool cheeks (1.1) or spool core (1.3), and the problems emerging during the dispatch, stacking and packaging of the spool (1) are avoided.
