Title:
METHOD AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR PROCESSING ALARMS USING A MANAGEMENT NETWORK INVOLVING SEVERAL LAYERS OF MANAGEMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO1999037102
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention is based on the transmission of active alarm data in order to adjust alarm data between an agent (AG) of a management level (B,C) and at least one manager (MA1, MA2) of the next highest management level (A,B). According to the invention, a message (alaAS, alaSC) is sent by the manager (Ma1, MA2) to the agent (AG) and used to request automatic adjustment of said alarm data repeatedly initiated by said agent. The manager (MA1,MA2) receives correlation data (aliNI) for the allocation of each respective request to the messages which are successively sent by the agent (AG). The manager controls adjustment of said alarm data on the basis of at least one parameter sent to the agent. According to the invention, adjustment of the alarm data can be automatically and recurrently initiated by the agent, whereby said adjustment can be parameterized for the manager with respect to basic functionality, i.e. not all active alarms have to be sent by the agent; only those that are defined in a more precise manner by the transmitted parameter. This parameter enables the manager to perform a selection function for a partial number of alarms which are independently supplied by the agent at periodic time intervals, without requiring initiation by the manager. This enables, inter alia, optimum use of transmission resources on the interface.
