Abstract:
The invention relates to highway engineering, in particular to technology of compacting the top layer of road pavement made of hot-mixed asphalt concrete and to technical means (compact rollers) for carrying out said method. The inventive method consists in pre-compacting an asphalt-concrete mixture in such a way the compacting factor thereof is equal to or higher than 0.8 and in compacting said mixture at a temperature ranging from 105 to 130 °C associated with vacuuming at a vacuum value equal to or less than 4.5 kPa, the deformation (buckling) of the layer being equal to or less than 0.1-0.15 of the compacted depth thereof. The inventive compact roller for carrying out said compacting technology is provided with a vacuum chamber comprising a rolling-contact bearing which is embodied in the form of a balance truck and pivotally connected to an arm which is movably arranged in such a way that it is rotatable around an axis fixed to the frame of the roller, for example a roll axis. Two variants for arranging the chamber with respect to the balance truck are also disclosed. In the first variant, the truck is arranged inside the chamber, and in the second variant, thereoutside.
