Abstract:
The invention relates to plasma technology and can be used for developing electric propulsion engines, in particular the engines based on plasma accelerators having a closed electron drift and ion accelerators. The inventive engine comprises an accelerating channel for ionisation of working medium and ion acceleration, which is provided with a system for supplying the working medium to the area of the closed end of the channel. Said area comprises a gas collector-distributor (also used as an anode) and a special supply of the working medium. A cathode is arranged outside the channel at the open end thereof. In addition, the inventive engine is provided with at least one identical accelerating channel. Axes of the channels are disposed symmetrically with respect to the axis of the engine whereby forming therewith equal angles. The engine can be provided with two and more such channels and called a polychannel engine. Said channels can be embodied in the form of independent accelerators. In order to obtain a thrust, a group consisting of k thrust sources (channels) in number ranging from 1 to m is actuated; 2 $m(F) m. In order to obtain required module resultants and to ensure the operating direction of the thrust vector during the control, the number k of the simultaneously working thrust sources in the groups k $m(F) m, the composition of the groups of simultaneously working thrust sources and the running time for each group are modified. Thus, the engine becomes a top quality multimode engine.
