Abstract:

A method for cooling a steel product with water, wherein a temperature at the start of the cooling with water (T_i), a temperature at the end of the cooling with water (T_o), a thickness of the steel product (d), a concentration of the oxygen dissolved in the cooling water (D_o) and a cooling rate (C_R) are appropriately and respectively determined so that a thickness(d_H20+ d_o2) of the oxide film on the surface of the steel product is 15 nm or less without requirement for treatment after the cooling with water, in the formula: d_H20+ d_o2)= 7.98 x 10^-4(T_i - T_o)dD_o+ &lcub 5.50 x 10^-3(T_i² - T_o²) - 6.51(T_i - T_o)&rcub / C_R ≤ 15.
