Abstract:
A method for designing a direct-injection internal combustion engine (10) in which fuel is injected directly into a combustion chamber (21) by an injector (30), said method including: a target combustion characteristic acquisition step (S101) for acquiring a target combustion characteristic, which is a target value for a combustion characteristic of the internal combustion engine; a target equivalent ratio distribution calculation step (S102) for using a combustion characteristic sensitivity function quantifying the sensitivity of the combustion characteristic with respect to an equivalent ratio distribution in an air-fuel mixture of air and fuel generated in the combustion chamber to calculate a target equivalent ratio distribution, which is a target value for the equivalent ratio distribution with which the target combustion characteristic can be achieved; and an injector requirement calculation step (S104) for calculating an injector requirement, which is a requirement for a design parameter of the injector for achieving the target equivalent ratio distribution.
