Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hypoid gear. A method for designing a tooth profile of an involute hypoid gear according to the present invention has a feature of using a virtual common rack rotating about a rotational axis at a middle location between two hypoid gears, tooth profiles of which are to be designed. The rotational axis has a rotation center at a point where two segments meet each other, and is perpendicular to the two segments, wherein the two segments include a segment, which interconnects intersection points at which rotation axes of the two gears cross a pitch plane including a pitch point and velocity vectors of the two gears at the pitch point, and a segment, which extends in the direction of a relative velocity vector of the two gears from the pitch point.
