Abstract:
Provided are a method, etc., for determining a gap between steel plates in resistance spot welding, whereby the presence of a gap between steel plates can be determined by directly measuring the shapes of primary surfaces of superimposed steel plates in a state before a welding current is applied to a first electrode and a second electrode after the steel plates are pressed by the first electrode and the second electrode. The method for determining a gap between steel plates includes: a distance measurement step (step S1) for measuring, in a state after pressing a plurality of superimposed steel plates (SU), (SL) and before applying a welding current between a first electrode (12) and a second electrode (13), the distance to a plurality of points (M1), (M2) on a primary surface (SLa) of an electrode-vicinity region (A) of an uppermost or lowermost steel plate (SL) and the distance to a plurality of points (M3), (M4) on a primary surface (SLb) of a separation region (B) of the aforementioned steel plate (SL) through use of a distance meter (35); and a determination step (step S2) for determining whether a gap (δ) is present between the superimposed steel plates (SU), (SL), on the basis of the measured distance.
