Abstract:
Provided are a method for determining specifications of fiber reinforced material that has excellent fatigue resistance to ensure sufficient pressure resistance while maintaining appropriate expansion characteristics of a marine hose, and a method of manufacturing a marine hose. The present invention makes fiber cords 10 constituting a fiber-reinforced material 9 having a cord fabric structure to a specification in which three or four polyester filaments 10a are twisted, sets a twist factor K of the fiber cords 10 between 1900 and 2900 inclusive, grasps in advance correlations R between a predetermined elongation percentage E2 of each of a plurality of types of fiber cords 10 of different specifications and a hose elongation percentage E1 of each marine hose 1 in which the fiber-reinforced material 9 constituted by the respective fiber cords 10 is embedded as reinforcement layers 4A, 6A, the hose elongation percentages E1 being measured by a predetermined expansion test, sets a threshold Th for the predetermined elongation percentage E2 on the basis of a standard value of the hose elongation percentage E1 in the predetermined expansion test and the correlations R, and sets the predetermined elongation percentage E2 of the fiber cords 10 for use as the reinforcement layers 4A, 6A to be equal to or less than the threshold Th.
