Abstract:
For the production of a strip of coated paper or cardboard (1), pigment coating is applied to the strip from a slit nozzle (2) in a free-falling curtain (5). According to the invention, a partial stream of coating is supplied to the inside surface (8) of a guide element (7) in such a way that each partial stream meets the curtain (5) in a substantially vertical downward flow and at a speed which is at least as fast as the speed at which the coating is discharged from the nozzle (2) in order to spray the curtain (5). Said guide element is located directly next the discharge gap (4) of the slit nozzle (2) and extends downward as far as the area close to the strip (1). Preferably, a separative element (13) is arranged under every guiding element (7) so that the respective edge of the curtain (5) detaches and moves outward.
