Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR THE CONTINUOUS CASTING OF ALUMINUM-KILLED STEELS BY MEANS OF A WATER-COOLED PERMANENT MOLD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2001072454
Kind Code:
A8
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the continuous casting of aluminum-killed steels by means of a water-cooled permanent mold. The steels are treated with Ca at the end of the secondary metallurgy treatment and the deoxidization products of the composition have between 40 and 60 % Al2O3 in the two-phase diagram Al2O3/Ca. According to the inventive casting method using a ceramic pipe, the heat conductivity is reduced by providing an additional insulation between the distributor bottom and the meniscus and the outer surface temperature of the submerged entry nozzle between the distributor bottom and the meniscus is increased to above > 700 DEG C. To this end, a ceramic casting pipe (1) is provided with an insulation (14) consisting of ceramic wool (14) with an outer surface temperature on the surface of the ceramic wool of < 700 DEG C (14.1).
