Abstract:
A method and device for cooling a high-temperature superconductor to lower temperatures simply and at a low cost, wherein a high-temperature superconductor forming a cable (50) is cooled by a liquid refrigerant (41) which is in turn cooled by a refrigerating machine (10) to a solidifying point or lower of the refrigerant in a standstill condition in the cooling system and which is forcibly passed and circulated by a pump (34) during cooling to be kept in a fluid condition at the solidifying point or lower by that physical action, or a flow rate of the refrigerant may be controlled according to a viscosity of the refrigerant measured by a viscometer (61), whereby liquid nitrogen is kept in a liquid condition at about 45 K.
