Abstract:

Provided are a dental plaque measurement/display method and a dental plaque measurement/display device as well as a gum and/or alveolar bone measurement/display method and a gum and/or alveolar bone measurement/display device, said dental plaque measurement/display method comprising: a step of dividing near infrared light output from a light source into a measuring beam and a reference beam; a step of applying and scanning the measuring beam over a tooth in the mouth; a step of obtaining interference light from reflected light and back-scattered light obtained from the tooth and the reference beam; a step of obtaining an optical interference tomographic image on the basis of a scattering intensity value of the interference light; a step of extracting a plaque region which has a specific scattering intensity value from the optical interference tomographic image; and a step of quantifying the plaque. Thus, a method and device for determining the quantity of dental plaque, converting said quantity into numerals and an image in a non-contact and non-invasive manner are provided.
