Abstract:

A method etc. of deciding a residual travel life and the end of the life of a run-flat tire that continues traveling in a run-flat condition. A method of deciding a residual travel life of a tire is characterized as follows. In a vehicle having a run-flat tire system provided with a run-flat tire (2), and a detection unit provided in the tire (2) and capable of measuring an atmospheric temperature in at least a cavity (3) of the tire (2), a limit temperature is set in advance, where the limit temperature is an in-the-cavity atmospheric temperature at which a failure is statistically said to occur when the tire (2) continues traveling in a run-flat condition created when tire inner pressure drops abnormally because of puncture etc. of the tire (2). An in-the-cavity atmospheric temperature of the run-flat tire continuously traveling in a run-flat condition is measured, and then a time and/or a distance for which the run-flat tire can travel until it fails is estimated using the in-the-cavity atmospheric temperature measured and data calculated using the temperature.
