Abstract:
The working medium released from the working chamber of a positive-displacement steam engine is brought to vortex movement as a result of which are created a compression zone where the relatively hot liquid phase of the working medium is situated, and a vacuum zone where the relatively cold steam phase of the working medium is situated. The liquid phase is fed to a thermal energy accumulator and the steam phase is fed to a condenser. The device for recuperation of the braking energy comprises a tubular vortex chamber (8) connected to the working chamber of the engine through a nozzle input (12) and provided with two radial tubes (15) connected to the internal cavity of said chamber through annular grooves (16) and with one axial tube (14) connected to the condenser. The working medium outflow is regulated by a shutter (13) connected to the braking controlling organ.
