A method for locating the fault of passive optical network is provided in the embodiment of the present invention belonging to the network communication field, the method comprises the following steps: detecting the message of the device being power off, the message being reported by the access terminal device having been off line; judging whether the fault taken place at the said access terminal device having been off line or at the main line connecting with the said access terminal device having been off line according to the said detected result and the on-line state of the other access terminal devices under the same one central access device port as the said access terminal device having been off line. A device and system for locating the fault of passive optical network are also provided by the present invention embodiment. The present invention embodiment is used to judge the fault of the PON network.
