Disclosed is a method for tearing off a polarizer (10). The method comprises the following steps: after a tearing corner (11) on a polarizer (10), which is adhered to a panel(20) and has an adhesion defect, is tore off, starting a maintaining air knife (40) to keep the tearing corner (11) at the torn state; moving the maintaining air knife (40) and a tearing platform (30) for holding the panel (20) till the tearing corner (11) is in a tearing component; and clamping the tearing corner (11) in the tearing component and tearing off the polarizer (10). Further disclosed is a corresponding device for tearing off the polarizer (10). The method and device for tearing off the polarizer (10) can realize semi-automation of the process of tearing off the polarizer (10), thereby simplifying the operation of workers and also improving the controllability of the process of tearing off the polarizer (10) while ensuring that the working safety risks are reduced.
