Abstract:
A signal transmitted by a sound source (1) is fed to a transducer (3) where the sound signal is transformed into a light signal modulated in amplitude by the sound signal. From the transducer (3) the light signal goes out in the form of a plurality of parallel beams and comes simultaneously to all multiplying units consisting of cone-shaped stencils (7) divided into rings (8) each of them consisting of transverse strips (9) with logarithmic sinusoidally changing optical density. During the rotation of the stencil (7) the passing light is sinusoidally modulated with the change of the sinusoidal oscillation frequency, a plane perpendicular to the light beam, proportionally to 2phi, where phi is the light angular coordinate in relation to the centre of the light beam expressed in fractions of the circumference. The light beam subjected to the double modulation appears on the surface of the stencils (7) as an image of each of the audible sounds.
