METHOD AND DEVICES FOR INTEGRATING FUNCTIONAL FIBERS INTO A WORKPIECE DURING ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

The invention relates to a method for integrating functional fibers into a workpiece during a selective laser sintering process. The invention proposes two method variants. In a first method variant, parts of the powder layer (pw) are sintered, for example using a laser beam, prior to the insertion process. A heating body (hk) then melts the already melted workpiece parts again. The functional fibers (ff) are supplied to the melt or the melt-like mass through a channel (kn) in the heating body (hk) by means of a supply device and are introduced into the melt or melt-like mass at the introduction point. By moving the heating body (hk), the completely or partly melted region is moved away from the heating body and is heated to a lesser degree, whereby the region is cooled and solidifies together with the already inserted functional fibers. According to the invention, the aforementioned variant can also be used to introduce fibers into objects which have been produced by means of an injection molding- or extruder-based 3D printing process or other additive manufacturing methods for example.
