Abstract:
Substances useful for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease and studying the cause and therapy of the same, such as a protein having the following characteristics and an antibody produced by the protein of fragments thereof, a method of diagnosing Alzheimer's disease, and a kit therefor: (1) molecular weight: 40 kD as determined by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis; (2) isoelectric point: pI = 8.2; (3) amino acid sequence (A) starting with the N-terminus till the 15th residue, wherein Xaa represents an unidentified amino acid residue.
