Title:
METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIATING MESENCHYMAL STEM CELLS FROM PLURIPOTENT STEM CELLS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2021/225420
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing mesenchymal stem cells from pluripotent stem cells and to mesenchymal stem cells produced by the method. The present invention enables mesenchymal stem cells having an excellent proliferation rate while having superior intrinsic biological activity to be obtained in high yield by sequentially performing three-dimensional suspension culture by using pluripotent stem cells, particularly induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), as starting cells, and adherent culture of cell aggregates formed through same. In addition, mesenchymal stem cells produced by the method of the present invention demonstrate high efficiency of differentiation into bone and cartilage and have excellent anti-inflammatory activity, and thus can be usefully used as compositions for treatment of bone diseases, cartilage diseases, or inflammation and autoimmune diseases.
