Title:
METHOD OF DIMINISHING UNREACTED MONOMER IN VINYL POLYMER AND TONER RESIN REDUCED IN UNREACTED MONOMER CONTENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/048030
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A method of diminishing unreacted monomers remaining in a vinyl polymer which comprises: adding a water-soluble inorganic salt which can make the unreacted monomers remaining in the vinyl polymer soluble in water to an aqueous dispersion of the vinyl polymer to thereby dissolve the unreacted monomers in the water; and then removing the unreacted monomers together with the aqueous medium. Thus, unreacted monomers remaining in the polymer can be efficiently diminished without fail at low cost without the need of a special apparatus, heat energy, etc. The toner resin comprises as a component the vinyl polymer reduced in the content of unreacted monomers by the method. The toner resin eliminates the problem of odor generation during toner production and during toner fixation in copying and has excellent effects, e. g. , that it contributes to an improvement in toner properties.
