Abstract:

The present invention is characterized in that after electric charges generated by one photoelectric conversion unit in different periods are held by each of a first electric charge holding unit and a second electric charge holding unit, a third transfer unit is placed in an ON state and the electric charges are transferred to a floating diffusion, after which a fourth transfer unit is placed in an ON state while the electric charges transferred by the floating diffusion are held.
